We are delighted to announce that on Saturday 15th September we held our first James Bond Themed Charity Ball at the Nottingham Belfry Hotel organised by Sapphire Events Limited in aid of both “The Nottinghamshire Hospice” and “Maggie’s Cancer Care”.
The evening was a resounding success and on the night a staggering £10,325.32 was raised for both charities.
Guests arrived to the sight of two Aston Martins displayed at the front of the Hotel and were then treated to champagne and cocktails and entertained with close-up magic performed by an award winning magician. After dinner there was a live and silent auction compared by Willie Thorne and guests were invited to enjoy an array of unique experiences including a full size F1 Car simulator, a Helicopter simulator and casino tables in a fully themed James Bond room. A fabulous live band got the guests up and dancing, followed by a DJ and disco into the early hours.
The charities commented :-
“All of us here at Maggie’s are really grateful for the funds raised and donated from the James Bond Ball. The effort that was put into it was amazing and the results even more so. The support you have given to us is invaluable and will go a long way to helping the people who use our centre. The money raised will help to fund the classes we offer each week to our users, such as yoga, tai chi, nutrition workshop and many more.
We get lots of people who walk through our door each day who need support from us, whether it be emotional, benefits advice, information or just a friendly face to relax and chat with. It is fantastic to see how much people want to support and help us keep providing our service to our centre users.”
Maggie’s Cancer Care
“On behalf of the patients, staff and trustees of Nottinghamshire Hospice I would like to thank David and his team at Ryley Wealth Management Ltd for organising a James Bond Ball in aid of our charity and Maggie’s Cancer Care. I would particularly like to thank all the guests for their generosity on the night. All the money raised from this ball will go towards maintaining our patient services.
The aim of Nottinghamshire Hospice is to ensure the best possible palliative care for adults with a life limiting illness, and to give respite and support to their carers. All services are free and offered regardless of age, gender, ethnic origin, or religion. Each year we provide over 7,000 Day care Therapy places free of charge to people with a life limiting illness and provide over 36,000 hours of nursing care through our Hospice-at-Home service.
It costs approximately £3.0 million each year to run the hospice, with just 30% of our costs being covered by the NHS Primary Care Trust. The balance, almost £2.0 million, we have to raise through various fundraising activities.
Sadly, the need for our services does not diminish and your help and support is greatly appreciated. It is only due to the kindness and generosity of people like yourselves that we are able to continue our important work here at Nottinghamshire Hospice.”
